Following Iran’s weekend airstrikes, airline passengers are facing flight cancellations and disruptions to routes involving Israel and neighboring countries. EasyJet has halted flights to and from Tel Aviv until Sunday, April 21. Similarly, Wizz Air ceased flights to Tel Aviv on Sunday and Monday but plans to resume services on Tuesday, April 16, although passengers may experience schedule adjustments.

Wizz Air assured passengers that it’s closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates on any schedule changes. Passengers affected by these changes will be offered rebooking or refund options.

The closure of Israel’s airspace on Saturday evening in response to Iran’s direct assault prompted flight suspensions by several airlines. Lufthansa, for instance, suspended flights to Tel Aviv, Erbil, and Amman until Monday, with plans to resume on Tuesday. Flights to Beirut and Tehran remain suspended until at least April 18.

As a precaution, airlines are rerouting flights to avoid Iranian airspace, potentially increasing journey times. Qantas, for example, is adjusting flight paths to steer clear of Iran’s airspace.

Virgin Atlantic emphasized its commitment to passenger safety by avoiding Iraq, Iran, and Israel airspace. Although the airline ceased flights to Israel last year, it aims to resume services by September.

British Airways, on the other hand, is cautiously monitoring the situation, with plans for a flight to Tel Aviv on Monday. The airline recently reinstated flights to Israel after suspending them last October, operating four flights a week with a crew change in Larnaca, Cyprus.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) reiterated caution to airlines regarding Israeli and Iranian airspace, emphasizing ongoing monitoring for potential safety risks and readiness to act accordingly.
